IACV/Idling question
This is my first Civic and I'm not that familiar with the motor. About a month ago, it started idling strange. It would bounce back and forth. The malfunction lamp came and the maintenance lamp came on. I took it to a parts shop and their computer said it was the IACV. Following the direction of another thread, I cleaned the IACV. I have heard that once this part goes, it's gone, but I figured I'd try the thread to see what happens. It seemed to stop the idle from bouncing around, but it still idles a tad high (slightly over 1000 rpm) and the malfunction lamp is still on. Any thoughts on the next step? Should I take out the ECM fuse to reset everything? If so, exactly where and how do I do this? My last car was a 66 Mustang so this is all a leap in technology for me. Thanks for any input.
i had the same problem, there is a TSB on this problem, on a idle relearn procedure....If you know anybody with Identifix(online tech support for diagnostics), they will tell you that ANYTHING that is modified on these cars you need to do a idle relearn. trust me i do mine frequently, but i have the scantool to do it....
