washers for the bumpers
I don't know of this problem, but I assume you would need to place them where the bumper mounts to the quarters and the fenders. Should be a screw going through each side of the bumper and up through the fenders, same with the quarters.

Exactly, and it's not little marks, the paint is PEELING at the corners of the bumper where it meets the fenders.

I just scrap off the loose paint and touch it up and put some washers on it. I do paint work for a living and I still wouldn't paint the bumpers. I guess I'm just less **** then everyone else, since I also scraped my side skirt and I touched that up too. You can run into lots of problems having things repainted.

Well GL on that cause dings and marks are going to happen unless you put your Fit in a bubble.

yeah.. but what i was trying to say was.. you dont buy it from the dealer with those already there. this is a problem that Honda didnt deal with.. its not a problem of people who dont know how to open a car door when parked next to other cars.

Yeah.. but I still don't see the big deal. I guess if I was a **** person, I would get it fixed. When you get things repainted it's not factory anymore, it will chip and scratch alot easier then factory or the color can be off and such.

no, from the factory the paint sucks ***. When it gets repainted I am making sure that the bumpers are going to get primed with the right stuff and get sprayed with not just one measly thin coat. It is just not fit's having thing problem also S2K's and some new FG's too
seriously i had a si there was abnormal paint peels, got my fit it was one week and i got a spot already, does honda think all of sudden its ok to paint shitty this time? a class action should be in effect its kinda bullshit to buy and it looks like it was driven behind a truck for days

yeah if you take it to some shitty paint shop but if taken to a good body shop you will never know that the bumper is repainted

Yeah but good body shops make mistakes too. Depends on the painter, I seen big name dealerships not do such great work. Hell, I do better work outside in the heat, wind and other elements and for alot less money.

Do any of you have pics of your bumpers where they are peeling? I've been looking at mine for a few days and if I'm looking in the right location...I have no peeling yet. But I would like to see what you guys are talking about.
The place where it's having the peeling problem is right above the tires where the bumper meets the body panel or fender if you prefer. You can feel the difference in the paint it feels rubbery there on the ones that are affected.
I have pics but with 18 hard drives I'll have to look for them tomorrow.
Where you put the washers is the same spot where the bumper meets the body panel (fender). Under the wheel well where they meet there is 1 philips screw. You simply remove the screw and the bumper can be pulled on to seperate the two.
You slide a washer in there so that when you put the screw back it will go thru the washer and hold it in place. Use a credit card or your drivers license to push it in so you don't scratch the paint. Put the screw back in and you're done.
There is no one color that has this problem it's all of the colors. And no one place, it's happened on different corners of different cars. A #10 washer works good from Home Depot. The whole job doing all 4 corners only takes about 15 minutes.
I had my rear bumper repainted "By the Dealership" and the drivers side sport garnish (trim) was replaced because the paint was literally flaking off. They said it was easier than trying to repaint it.
Keep in mind mine is over a year old now so the problem should have been fixed by Honda by now. Still the washers are a good idea because the panels fit too tightly together.
They gave me a loaner car while it was being fixed and god that made me miss my Fit all that much more.
They did a great job on it too. I believe the new paint is far superior to the factory paint.
Hope that helps.

I had one came in at work the other day. I scraped the lose paint off, touch it up and shipped it. The mark after I scraped it off was about a inch long, after it was touched up it's barely noticeable.
Mine's not noticable at all because I had it repainted. Now when I look at it all I see is perfect paint. I touched up one spot on the side garnish when it first started flaking off. When it flaked off in 3 more spots it was time to get it fixed right.
I'm not going to retouch the entire car with touch up paint one spot at a time. I want it painted right. That's what I paid for and that's why there is a warranty.
When it runs out of warranty next year I'll have to use touch up paint or dish out the cash if the paint messes up.
Why would anyone want to use touch up paint on a brand new car to cover up a factory flaw? It makes about as much sense to me as picking up a new car with a 1" hole in the middle of the windshield and filling it with silicone and saying there all better now.
