Default Best option for F22B2 and H23A intake

I have an F22B2 with the stock ECU, and I'm preparing an H23A intake to swap in. Should I use a free vacuum line and connect it to the H23A secondary butterfly solenoid/valve thing, or is there some better go-between short of buying an EX ECU and use the VTEC pinout to wire the mani valve solenoid to? I tried searching but it seems to be one or the other, I was wondering if there were any little-known strokes of genius for those of us without EX ECUs but who want better control than the "opens it by some amount at some point" the vacuum line method gives.
