Default 91 civic dx

Yea i am new here and i have got a question.... Will a transmission out of a 86 crx hf fit into my 91 civic hatchback... the crx has the factory 1.5 engine in it... also will all of the clutch and shifter linkages work? I am wondering becuz i have both of the cars in my yard and i drive the 91 becuz it is in better shape, i just want to get rid of the crappy automatic

My understanding is that the HF transmission will fit into that car, at least I have one I've been carting around, based on that. The issues you have, that I am aware of, are:
-you will need to add the clutch pedal and cable assembly.
-you will need the shifter for a manual.
-you might need to change the halfshaft ends that go into the transmission, to drive the wheel's.
-you can use a dx flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, or you can use an si, which has more surface area. Primarily you need to pick one or the other and then get the clutch/pressure plate to go with it. I think you might actually be able to use the one's out of the HF, but I'm not positive.
-the downside to using the HF is that it is geared about 30% taller than the automatic, so you are not going to have as much get up and go. The upside is that you should get 5-10% better mileage.

I'd buy the HF trans if you want to sell it

84-87 is different then 88-91. Almost all the parts on those cars are incompatible including the tranny
