Default Seibon!! Shitty service?? Bad product?

So originally when I received my hood I was totally satisfied. After about 4 months through the winter i get a problem. I had my car parked all winter in my covered car port, there were a few times that I moved it out into the elements but usually this was for a day maybe two. Towards the end of the winter season about February I take the car down to the car was and clean it up (this is a hand car wash BTW) I was able to look over the entire car. Car was lookin good, took it home parked it out from under the car port. I stood and stared at it for a few minutes admiring it. That night it snows pretty good my car gets covered, the following late after noon the snow melts. I am checking out the car and notice now there is a crack in the front portion of the hood??? How the hell does this happen? I can only determine that the temperature change created the crack in the clear. I figured no big deal I am sure this is covered by Warranty. I get in contact with Jwood about the problem send him the pics that I have attached here. He explains that he is not sure if it is covered but he will contact Seibon. About a week and half goes by I haven't heard anything, so I call Jwood to see what is the outcome if any. He tells me that they feel that it is a rock chip and that is not covered by warranty! It does not at all look like a rock chip in person, it is like a stress crack, like the curve of the hod created it. Oh and another thing is that they say it could have been from the way I shut the hood? I spent 500 dollars on this hood and think that I am pretty careful about shutting my hood. I never drop it closed, or push it down with one hand, I use equal pressure and slowly press until it latches, I am freaking OCD for Christ sakes. So they tell me to get F'ed pretty much! I don't know if I would recommend buying there products if this is how they do business. I know there workman ship is gorgeous and I am sure I was sold a hood that was defective and it was inevitable that it was going to crack. But the fact they wont back me up is ridiculous, to think they could have covered the damn hood and made me satisfied and had me boasting about there great product. Rather than tell me off and push me into posting negativity about Seibons customer service and defective products! I guess you could take the chance and get a bum hood as I did and be stuck with it, or step it up and buy Fiberimages and get the best. I wish I would have!!!!!

I just want to share with you all my experience so please don't be offended just BEWARE!!

Don't think carbon fiber would crack like that though from snow.

The same thing happened to my hood. It is from overtightening the hood latch bolts on the bottom of your hood.

You've had the hood for longer than a month, not even honda will give you your money back. Trust me. Think about it, if someone bought your car when you got your hood and came back in four months to complain about some scratch on the car would you give them their money back?

I am not saying it was broken I am saying that the workmanship had a weak spot in the clear coat (or thin spot). Once installed on my car it took about 4 months and some semi cold weather for this flaw to show. I am not going to argue with the few that think it is a chip, its simple I was aware of my hood before and after the crack came out. During this the car was not drivin nor near a road where debris could have been flung at the car.
has a name to live up and market, as for my personal experience and the few others that have posted; I will not recommend nor support there product! Although had they backed there product this post would cease to exist...

I also have a VIS hood on my EF hatch and I do agree it has been a much better hood than Seibon. The fitment and looks as I said of the Seibon is top notch. Just bad business and customer satisfaction, and had I know about this with them I would not have bought there product would have went with VIS again or of course Fiberimages.

In my professional opinion, that does look like an impact. I have no affiliation with Seibon.

Also, no offense, but if you want to keep your argument strong, you should not praise their competitors in the same breath.

Also, how exactly do you know those two other companies you mentioned are so great? You've never owned a VIS or Fiberimages because if you did you would have bought the same brand. By all means I am NOT saying that VIS or Fiberimages aren't great but I am questioning the OP's logic.

All I'm saying is, let's be fair and open minded in situations like this.

Sorry dude but what do you expect them to do? I mean if they catered to everybody who came to them w/ some wishlist of a free replacement they would be out of business.

I know for sure if you own a business and htis happens you would do the same (dont lie)
