How is the reliability of the carsound 94006 catalytic converter? Just had mine installed and was wondering how long this puppy will last from daily driving in freezing temperatures in the winter and super hot summers.
In Arizona with pretty constantly nice weather I had one go out after 4-5 months and another that went out in one month. I have had my current one for 2 weeks and no problems yet.
In talking to another board member about this problem (I will let him chime in if he wants; I won't try to speak for him) Carsound suggested that their 95000 (I think, again, other board member can correct me if needed) was much heavier duty and might work better, but the cost was about $50 more.
My suggestion is that if you buy it from a shop, ask before hand what their repair/replacement policy is.
Mark @ LandSpeedRacing has been extremely helpful to me and replaced my cat. along with re-doing all welding, etc for free where normally you get a new cat. core for free, but must pay to have it re-welded, etc.
Make sure your care is properly tunned as well. If you are running too rich or lean, that could cause problems. On boh of my failed cats. the core was actually perfect, no signs of any kind of rich or lean situation occuring.
As for my opinion of Carsound themslves; they suck. No real customer service. It all comes down to the shop you buy it from and how well they handle it for you.

The last generation of Carsounds had a defect that loosened the catylist and it just rattled around. The current generation doesn't have that problem.
I've had my 94006 for a year this July, Got it from Mike at IPS racing. It works fine. Passed inspection, sounds a bit more agressive but, all around it has no problems that I have encountered. Good stuff if you are upgrading your exhaust system. Carsound gets my

I hate mine! I had it on my car for about 4 months and now it's a rattling mess. I ordered mine from R&D and unfortuantely Dave advised me that I need to go through Carsound directly which is a bitch. Basically, I have to buy a new cat, get that re-welded etc, and then send Carsound my defective cat. Even that isn't a guarantee. As said before, check with the warranty offered through the shop you purchase it from. Wasting $250 or so in a few months sucks!

Are you sure the noise is coming from the inside of the cat and not the outside? It could be just the heat shield rattling. Try adding a **** load of spot welds around the perimeter of the heat shield and see what happens.

I've had a 3" carsound cat on my SC civic for a year now - the only thing that's happened is the heat shield started to rattle after about 1 month. I edge welded it - fawk spot welds. All is well otherwise...knock on wood...
