Got my new Shift Jacket, but noticed a few things
I like the jacket, the outer material is nice and tough, and the foam padding is layered with hard plastic. However it does not come with a back protector, and there are no air vents. It is going to be one hot summer. Just wanted to share with you guys.
textile, I am looking to buy a back protector, but do you guys know what it is extactly called? I am searching and I am only getting the ones that are strap on.
i don't believe shift makes one to fit in to their jackets.
It is called a "back protector" so that's what you search for. The strap on ones are the common ones.
Dainese makes a couple back protector inserts, they're about $70 or so. Infact, the dainese back protector i have looks like it would be a perfect fit for the compartment on your shift jacket.
And there's no reason why the lack of venting should be a surprise. Didn't you read the description of the jacket before you bought it?

I have the same jacket, I couldn't find a back protector insert that would fit so i ended up buying one that you wear on your body
I think Motorcyclist did a small review about back protectors. I just browsed through it real quick, but I think the T-Pro forcefield was rated very high if not #1. I use the same one.

So you just wear the back protector under the jacket?

I didn't trust the ones that fit into the jacket-pocket. There doesn't seem to be enough coverage for the back.
Most standalone ones that you wear underneath have better coverage for your coccyx and kidneys.
