Default new wheels and tires...??

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this. and I'm about to purchase some rims and tires for my car. its a 97 civic 4dr. It currently is completetly stock. I've got some 14's winter tires on there and need to buy summer tires. needed to know which size of tire should i get?...

these are the rims i,m looking at getting Dai Sepang 15's..

this is an approximate look of the rims on my car.. i,m gonna drop it approx. two inches in the next month so the picture give the overview of what my car should look like after the drop and rims.

i,m wondering would i go for 195/55R15 or 195/50R15 or 205/50R15?? i dont want too much of a large tire, but i dont want it to thin either. the rim size is 15x6.5.

if it does make a diffrence. the curent tires i got on there are 185/65R14..

thnx for ur help.

195-50-15 is too small for you car. Pre-96 civic can use that size. I would go with 195-55-15 as its the perfect size for you car. The 205-50-15 will work too but there will be a little difference in the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer. Nothing major but still a difference.

If you need help with picking some tires don't be shy to ask!

Yup, 195/55-15 or 205/50-15; either one will work.

See this post regarding recommendations for 15" summer tires in those sizes.

thanks for the help guys. i went to a tire store today. got a quote on some 195/55R15. i got quote much more then i can afford. 550$(tax in) CND for some Dunlop Dirrenza DZ101. its all the store could get in that size. should i still go with that or should i look into some 16inch rims instead and go with the previous tires i had check up on? Hercules G5000Z 205/45R16.(what make me change my mind about those was the fact that i had a hard time reaching the dealer to get the rims from...)

i made an estimate on the complete package if i went with the 15s or the 16s...they came up to about the same because the 15rims are cheaper but tire is more expensive, while the 16rims are more expensive, the tire is cheaper. beeing that said. should i got with 15 or 16?

thanks again.

Then get your tires shipped. In the States, you can get the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 or Kumho SPT in 205/50-15 or 195/55-15 for around USD60 (CAD66) per tire from places like the Tire Rack and Discount Tire. You can always get them shipped from the States, but you'll pay a bit extra for duties and shipping. It might still be cheaper than buying them in Canada.

Talon Tire in Quebec sells the V-rated SPT in 205/50-15 for CAD108, and in 195/55-15 for CAD113. Some of the folks in Toronto get their tires from Wheel and Tire Zone but you have to call them for prices.

Those are crappy tires from an off brand. I wouldn't.

Go with whatever you want. However, if it's cheaper because the tires are crappy, I wouldn't get that option.
