distributor rotor needs to be changed
the screw that holds the distributor rotor is ' almost ' completely stripped.
any ideas on getting it out...
i'm thinking of drilling it and then using the tools to remove stuck screws...
hammer in a star shaped drive onto the screw and take it out the barbarian way....
any help appreciated

You can try something like the Screw-Out damaged screw removers that Craftsman offers.

this always works for me dip the tip of a screw drive into valve grinding compound then try to take the screw out. Make sure you use a screw driver that fits the head of the screw. Good luck. If that doesn't work and you can get a pair of good side cutters on the head of the screw give it a quick snap of the wrist should brake it free.
i saw my boss do this the other day, i literally crapped myself; the shop smelled for hours.
Take a breaker bar, snap the rotor off the distributor shaft. Then get a pair of vise grips (might need to try different sized), and grip it on there hard. You also might need to chisel away little bits of the rotor after you snap it off. If all else fails, bull the dizzy, it's only 3 bolts. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me... I took a dremel to the rotor, and because its mostly plastic, got it off fairly easily. Then made two flat spots on the head of the round screw + vise grips = voila!
