Default 97 Civic stereo/CD problem

I purchased a 97 Civic about 18 months ago. The CD changer in the trunk played CD's fine, but very loud on the passengers side, front speaker. Radio sounds fine. That changer died, so I replaced it with a used changer. Again that passengers side, front speaker is loud, but now there is a bit of static in the music. Again, the radio sounds fine.

My guess is that the stereo itself is fine, and the CD changer is probably fine, that would leave the cable in between them to be the culprit. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

if it works fine with the radio on, but static when you play cd's, maybe it is the changer. also make sure none of the wires are not crimped anywhere, make sure the wires are not crossed too. im not a stereo expert just trying to help, but you should ask in the audio forum.
