OT - Attn: CW ITR Owners... have you ever noticed this? Strange.....
I came across this a while ago with my car by accident, and I wanted to know if anyone else out there with a CW R had ever noticed the same thing that I have.
One night I decided to go outside a snap a quick picture of my car with my digital camera. When I got back inside, I loaded the pic onto my computer and the strangest thing jumped out at me about the picture I took.
The driver's side door of my car seemed to be a totally different color white than the rest of the car.
At first I was furious because I thought for sure that the door wasn't the original one, and that the previous owner must have had some sort of an accident with it, leaving him to replace it.
Curious to see if this was the case, I marched back outside and took another picture and then around to the other side to snap one of the passenger side door. I went back inside and sure enough, the driver door still appeared to be a different color, while the passenger door stayed uniform in color. Now I was pissed.
So about a week later, a friend of mine who also has a 98 CW R came over to my place and we decided to conduct a little experiment. We took the same type of pictures of his car, at night just like with my car, and went back inside to see what happened.
The very same thing occured with his car. Driver door different color, passenger door uniform. Only difference was, his door looked to belong on my car and my door looked like it belonged on his. Very weird.
While reading on the boards earlier today, I came across an ad for a 98 R for sale from futreBoosteR. I went and checked out the pictures he had posted for his car and they just so happend to be taken at night. What do you know. A different color door. I posted the picture of his car below, I hope that you do not mind futreBoosteR, if so then I will be glad to take it down.
I wonder how many other CW R's do this and what the reason behind it is. It really doesn't matter after all, but it is sorta strange. Maybe some of you could go outside at night sometime and snap a quick picure of your car to see if you get the same result. Please note that I have not doctored these pics in any way. Go try for yourself if your skeptical.

Very interesting.
All this time I thought my door color didn't match because they repainted the back half of the car when the vandalized rear wing was replaced.

I think it has to do with the additive they use for the plastic parts and the fact that CW is next to impossible to match.
I have several day and night pictures that look the same as yours.

sometimes mine looks like that..sometimes it doesn't?
maybe it's cuz of the flash..or the angle?
btw the car is all OEM (other than JDM front
)
A similar thing happens with my NBP in direct sunlight - it looks like a bass boat! Just playin'.
Wassup Adam? Strange that other CW guys are having the same problem. (PS I need to get that CDR from you!)

hey i have the same problem. >_< what's with da
have you guys notice that the front bumper also has a different color?
i've have seem so many R pics on H-T and alot PY/CW R's have it. (i have that on my cw R)
if you take few different pics of the front bumper in daylight you'll also see the same effect.. that is also true for the PY R's
man i guess its really hard to match the color huh??

try it in pictures not at night and without the flash....see what happens. Nighttime is very deceiving for that sorta stuff and flashes on cameras mess things up more.

i notice that it's the same even in the daylight.
All those pictures were taken with a Xenon flash. It may just be an artifact.
Try using natural light instead to make the comparison.

its just the repaint of the car. When bodyshops do JDM fronts or body work they normally just blend the new paint with the old paint. Under a camera you can see the color difference. I know many people who have had body work done and this happens all the time. When I did my JDM front, I had them paint the whole car for the exact reason.
If your unsure if you car was repainted go check the the inside edge of the door where the seam is that connects the door jam and the outside door panel. Normally their is a paint seam from when they masked off the door jam for the repaint. This is how bodyshops, dealerships, etc... all know if a car was repainted.

could be that it was sprayed in a different direction, or something like that. It's a metallic paint so the flecks are a variable.
CW is VERY deceiving... it appears to change color all day long.
Early Morning, blistering noon, dawn, and night.
It all has to do with light perception.

ture, the lights has everything to do with how the pic would turn out
but we have to realize that the material are different. eg
the bumpers, skirts, front lip and wing are made out of poly-u and the body is made from metal. paint bonds and refelect differently to these materials
so that's why ppl pay top $$$$ for a good paint job !!
but i can't believe an oem paint would look like that

Phoenix Yellow Type Rs also tend to have that problem, but it isn't the door, but rather the panel behind it....
CW's arent so pefect after all! muwhahah.
Rguy, who is jealous and wouldve rather had a CW R if they were available but is happy with his cop magnet.
