Default oxidation? oh no!

Yep, I live on the beach and left my FBP civic out in the salty air a little long without wax and now it has nasty oxidation on the door frames(above the doors). It doesnt seem to have gotten into the metal yet, just the paint.

I just got some rubbing compound and this weekend i'll see if that works, but is there any other tips/hints im not aware of?

thanks a ton.

Meguires makes a decent line of professional polishes and compounds

they are rated by number from heavy cuting to final swirl remover

I think for most people they should stay on the high number side
unless they really understand what they are doing

some where in the 5 or higher range and make sure you
follow the directions
use a moist soft cotton rag like a tshirt
and dont do it in the sun

also remember that a polish is not a wax
and that you need to wax your car

use a 100% carnuba paste wax
NEVER EVER use a silicon based wax
they get into the paint and there is no cure

use that garbage on your tires

if you are in any doubt about what you are doing
go to an autobody supply store about 3 pm once everything has died down for the day and ask them to take a quick look and recomend something

I would also stay away from buffers if its a small area

and it serves you right anyway if your arms hurt after
for not waxing your car in the first place
