body shop would have to fill the holes & repaint

a GOOD shop will blend to your rear 1/4 and bumper and be costly....

cheap shops will spray your trunk after filling & send you on your way.

You have a coupe or sedan?

You would need to have all holes welded shut, mudded, primed, painted...and Type X is right, if they are gonna do it right the quarters need blended, most won't paint the bumper because bumpers rarely match from factory.

Wouldn't you need a new brake light if you went from an Si to and EX trunk?

If they're talking about your third brake light, there was a law past in 1980 that all vehicles are required to have a third brake light. It's illegal to drive around w/o a 3rd light. I believe the Si's third light is in the spoiler, and the EX is in the back glass, therefore if you were to swap trunks, or even spoilers you would be w/o a third light and in risk of a nice fine.

better request before you order.. the SI isn't available without the spoiler, so it would have to be an agreement between you and the dealer before hand that they would replace your trunk with a "wingless" one. Good Luck with it, expect a hard time from them about it though

Thanks for clarifying for me...I meant the 3rd one.

99% of dealers won't arrange any sort of part swapping on a new car, even if you're signing the papers.

Blending into the quarter panels is only required if your car is a metallic color, otherwise it makes no difference. (unless its a shitty shop that can't match the paint properly)

As for the 3rd brakelight, you most likely won't get ticketed for it (I've had no problems in the 6 or so months I've gone without mine), but if you're really paranoid you can buy an ex decklid with the 3rd brakelight built in.
