hey fellow accord owners.
i took my 92 accord to the wednesday night drags @ palmdale. this was my first time ever racing at a track.
h23a1...dc headers...greddy exhaust
~ my first run i ran a 16.9 cause i had my friend in the car
~ 2nd run was my fastest with a 16.60
~ 3rd run was a 16.67
are these the times that im supposed to be hitting?? am i supposed to be hitting 15's? im not too sure.
im not too happy with my results, but for it being my first time dragging at the track...i guess im pleased. i hope to run faster times the next time i head out there.
if anyone has any input/put downs/or any comments...that would be great...thanks

i was wondering if anyone could translate what the I1, I2, I3, I4 stand for? thanks for the help

yea palmdale sucks cuz of the high elevation... you're supposed to subtract 0.96 0.996 seconds or something like that to get realistic numbers
so ur supposedly hitting mid-high 15s?
there was an M5 hitting consistent low 14s when its supposed to be running low 13s

BTW....i shifted at 6200 rpm each time....i didn't put it into redline. next time i will do a run pushing the car all the way.
I1 has got to be your 60' time and 2.5 is not that great (I won't be mean and say it sucks 'cause it was your first time at the track) and you should be able to get that down a good bit. Improving 60' times will really help your overall 1/4 mile times. I forget what the ratio is in terms of one tenth off the 60' equals x tenths off 1/4 mile but it is better than 1:1.
Also as mentioned before elevation probably hurt you a good bit.

What PSI did you have your front tires set at? If too high, that might be your problem right there. They really need to be around 22 PSI.

i think that was my problem then...cuase i think they were at 35psi....regular pressure. next time i'll lower to 22...and we'll see how it goes.
thanks
thanks
Just don't forget to inflate your tires as soon as possible after your run, as driving around at 22psi will eat the edges of your tires very very quickly...
Shifting at about 6500rpm on a stock tach is necessary because of the inaccuracy. I know mine was way off, about 400rpms. Like its been said before, tire pressure and slipping of the clutch are key, not too bad for the first time out
They let you ride w/ your friend in the car?
Hmm that sounds a little strange.

i've been to 3 diff drag strips and all let people ride shotgun...

shifting @ 7900rpm's
with a stock h23
13.6's@100mph on the bottle 50 shot
