Default Junkyard HID conversion. What cars do i look for?

I have randomly read threads about people converting their headlights over to an HID setup using junkyard headlights out of mercedes and so forth.

what are the common donor cars that people use? any info will be helpful. how much should i expect to pay? thanks.

i'd check the retrofit thread and see what people can come up with

i always wanted to find a pos headlight, and get those cheap *** ebay projector lights and retro.
my friends has a bimmer and he got projector headlights off ebay, and they have a gnarly cut off already

well it depends.

are you looking for just ballats/bulbs, or ballasts/bulbs/and projectors?

if you're looking for just ballasts/bulbs...basically any late model acura from the TL line and upwards will have what you're looking for. Realize that the first gen TL's will probalby have bulbs that are nearing the end of their lifetimes.

Late model cadi's, pretty much any lexus 2000 and up, and various late model bmw's and audi's will have hid systems. It'll really take a long *** thread to cover all the cars that came with hid systems stock, but it's pretty easy to check by just looking at the headlights and seeing the bulb connectors.

ok, maybe im not as headlight savvy as i thought i was. lol.

i know what bulbs and ballasts are, but what are the projectors?

ok, ill just spill the beans and you guys let me know what you would do in my shoes.

i have a 90 miata with the lame popup headlights. my plan is to make a plexiglass lens over the hole where they pop up from and throw some bulbs behind them. i could use the crappy stock bulbs but if im going to put forth the effort i might as well get better headlights out of it.

thanks for the info.
