Default car's running rich..

I have a 96 jdm R with intake and header. Car is basically stock. Car's been running rich since i bought the car. It's bad to a point that the rear bumper is turning black. I'm wanting do fix all the dents and repaint the whole car but can't really do that until I fix the running rich problem. What are some things I can work on to fix this? I'm also running denso iridium plugs. I forgot the gaps, but would the gap matter? Help!!!

you need to tune it...that would also give you better gas mileage

My 97's bone stock, and it is running very rich as well. To the point where if I wash her,by the time I drive her home, the back looks filthy. I'm taking her in for a full mechanical inspection tommorow, so if there is anything that needs to be fixed besides tuning, I'll let you know what it is.

There are just to many variables to the reason why the car is running rich, it can be……………..
- The rings
- Bent vale
- Seals
- Blow by
- Bottom end
- Etc…

Do a compression check and leak down

I did a compression check already. results are
1- 263
2- 252
3- 264
4- 258

never did a leak down though. I dunno how to do that =/ How do you go by tuning a stock R? What do I use to tune it?

Sometimes I get a little jealous of the black R's.... This is really just a problem for us yellows and the whites.

if you have an exhuast aftermarket it makes it worse i've found.

Also, my car has always gotten dirt on the back bumper from the exhuast since the first 8miles.

Just part of having an Integra......

Do you have a MIL light?? If not sometimes it good to do a tune up and check for bad spark wires and make sure you check your cap. Other then that if your running rich a Mil like should appear..

mil light? What's that? Car has stock exhaust, and stock cat. Car has about 84k kilo's. If the cat is too old, can that make the car run rich? Spark plugs were changed recently. I do need to check the wires and cap though.
