i get one 2000 civic ex. i do all the work on all of my hondas. but this time i cant figure out whats wrong.

theres this squeaking coming from the engine bay and i cant tell whats causing it.
i checked my belts to make sure they werent too loose or too tight.
i checked my timing belt and its still good.

i called goodyear and they said it might be the tensioner?

just looking for your guys opinion on what it could be.
- sounds kinda like crickets.
- coming from the right side( belt side) of motor.
- its not a constant squeak.
- itll squeak then go away then start again.
- it also squeaks while im driving and while stopped with car running?

does this sound familiar to anyone. if so let me know.

id really hate to let goodyear get their hands on it.

yeah it could be one of your pullies or maybe your belts might be glazed.

 

do you think its serious cuz i might have to run em till friday. thats when i get paid.
i took off the power steering belt and started the car. it still squeaked. but as i was listening sounded like it was coming from the back of the motor. not really by the belts.

i started the car and sounds like the squeak is coming from the intake manifold. maybe around or under it. i was thinking the bracket that holds the intake manifold up. maybe a bolt is loose cuz the squeak sounds like metal to metal. not really a belt.

does this sound possible?

hmm, come to think of it my em1 has a squeaking problem too, but thats only because I ran over a rat a while back J/k. No but seriously, I do have a squeaking problem and I think its my right shock tower. Im gonna take a look at it this weekend.

 

i have a 99 Ex and i think that i have the same problem i only notice it when I'm standing still and I'm at low RPMs (around 1000) if i give it gas it gos away till it comes back to idle. i have no clue what it could be mine is not big enough to warrant a looking at but now im going to have to check it out.

it doesnt sound like a belt.

the only reason i want to fix it is because its pretty irritating.
i could deal with it but for the past couple days its getting a little louder.

ill jack it up and check that brace.
ill let you know.
