CAI Install / Ordering Price Scam or Not........? Advice Needed
I found a nice little shop where I live, and was quoted
"280" for a AEM V2 for my 97SH ( Claimed that is best price you can get thru their distributor)
1. Is that the best Price?, It beats anything I could personally find on the Net...
and "120" for the labor to install it...
2. Should I just Install myself... He told me their is "cutting" involved and the bumper needs to come off... so that is why I am hesitant to do it myself. But I will do it myself if this sounds completly shaddy or not true.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated, I am in no rush 2 do this just want to hear some opinions. Also, post any good sites that you guys/girls use for ordering/shoping.

do it ur self, learn something, and its easy to do it, search around there should be a write up for installing CAI on 5th gen prelude
I paid $75 shipped for a ebay one with by-pass valve and installed it myself. I am not going to reccomend which one to buy, but I am pleased with mine and put whatever filter I want on it (K&N).
Yes you will have to remove the bumper, or at least peel it back a little to gain access to the stock intake tubing and for placement of the new intake. I did not take it off and I managed.
I did not have to cut, but I did have to grind a little metal (a drill and a $1 grinding bit) to open up the hole that the CAI drops through behind the battery. The existing hole is just about a 1/16th too small for the tube to fit through and have the protective rubber ring to keep the metal of the chassis from scrapping the pretty CAI tubing.

ya man just install it yourself its really straight forward. the aem intakes come with instructions to make it much easier. you dont have to remove the front bumper and there in very minimal cutting to widen the hole.
$120 for a >30min job? Do it yourself. There are tons of write-up around here and the web. It doesn't take that long and its a good beginner project. Personally, I would go with something a lot cheaper. Just stick a K&N filter on an ebay pipe and call it a day. You will be gaining around the same hp. Bolt-ons don't help much on H22s anyway.
