ITR compared to supRa *searched*
Do any of you itR owners also own a Supra Turbo or have owned a supra turbo or driven one? Are these cars worth the amount their going for?
I really like these cars but I want to know If anyone has gone from an ITR to a turbo supra and weather or not they regretted it. The cars pretty expensive for its age and I dont want to make a mistake and regret not having the R anymore. But I cant stand not being able to park the car anywhere. Its taken over my life and I cant afford a to insure two cars so I have to do something.
I searched but nothing relevant came up. Iv been thinking a lot and the Supra seems like the Only car that looks nice, is rare, and has the potential to hold alot of hp. Everything else is either a gas guzzler or everyone has one.

Consider this.
1) There were just under 4000 ITR's made for US market
2) There were around 8000 Supra's made for US market
Supra's hold value because they are rare vehicles and are a dying breed like ITR . I have never owned one but have driven one. No Comparison
Supra's are large, heavy, powerful, RWD etc.
ITR's are quick, light, nimble, FWD. For what its worth, EVO magazine in UK did this article.

my cousin has a supra tt and we switch cars all the time, its great.. haha,so as far as being in the level of having a rare car that will have hella sausage jock yea, its about the same... you'll get females jockin more on the supra... as far as driving goes for the supra, it goes straight really well, like previously stated, its a high horsepower heavy bitch... whereas the itr is more fun to take into turns... i think its definately worth it if you can afford it, i do understand what you mean about theft, sometimes we take his supra out the garage and put my itr in there when we go out for the night... </speech> haha... gluck bro

Thats not a production car.
As for a Supra, its so different its hard to imagine wanting to cross-shop one of those with an ITR.
You could almost put it like this:
Do you care for drag-racing? (Supra)
or
Do you care for autox/track driving (ITR)
From talking to a guy that ran a dyno shop once, he hated most Supra owners, bc most of the cars are dyno-queens. They are built solely for the purpose of dynoing an astronomical high hp #s, but are then regulated to the garage.
The ITR, IMHO at least, is the opposite, its easy to take it to the track or autox, beat the hell out of it, drive it home, and not worry about it breaking.

my ex has one (94 supra TT) so we used to swap and drive each others' cars.
they're very different, apples to oranges. each fun in their own regards.
ITR was light, nimble, fwd, torqueless but the redline is fun
i'd say it is definitely more practical too, minus the theft thing.
Supra felt like a big cow on the track
even with teins, which helped, but braking after a long straight was interesting. the torque and the power are nice, rwd is fun and more predictable with the traction control on, and i worried less about the supie than i did about typie when it came to leaving the car places.
ionno, depends on what you want! both were fun in their own regard. both are very reliable and capable in stock form. they complement each other well imho.

I've driven my Dad's '97 Turbo more times than I can count, on the track, and on the street.
The Supra is fast. 560rwtq feels nice. It is much easier to get yourself into trouble...I should know
With that said, the Supra is more comfortable. Leather, AC, Targa, not too much road noise.
However, they are heavy cars. You can't toss them around. They don't have as good of turn-in. They are prone to oversteer because of the godrush of torque on tap. They do brake well though...large brakes.
As far as maintaining the car, the Supra is the most overengineered car I've come accross. Regular oil changes are about it. Not to mention the drivetrain/engine can easily handle 900rwhp stock. Only downside is that tires cost a fortune in big sizes. 275-295 series tires will run you over $1k for a set. Toyota parts are inexpensive also. You can order a 2JZ shortblock from the factory shipped for $2200.
But like everyone else has said...apples to oranges. Two completely different beasts. If I had to choose one to daily drive, it would be a Supra. Much easier to drive and more cushy...and there isn't much of a market for stolen Supra parts.

I have a Supra TT with low miles,
and all I can say is that RWD is greater than all.
You are asking a question in which 99% of the people on the forum will say Integra Type R, this is a honda forum after all.

Of course, and the same goes for you if the same question were to be asked on a Supra forum.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
I usually don't have time to drive the ITR so I dont ever take it to the autoX events or anything, So if I do get a supra it will only be driven on the weekends and on the street.
I KNOW i wont find/wont be able to afford another all around great car like the ITR until I save up some serious money, but I feel like I have too much unneeded stress with worrying about theft. No movies, No parties, No clubs, No parking it anywhere.
Would most people here buy another honda/acura( Lower model integra, Rsx) which has a lower theft rate or buy something like a supRa is what I am asking. Iv never owned anything but a Honda so I am accustomed to the way they feel and drive.
Dont want to be disappointed because having a fun, rare, quick car means ALOT to me. I'm one of those people who will just go driving around just to be driving my car with no real destination.
Is there anyone whos sold their ITR and NOT regretted it????

I'm not sure if I can add much more to this discussion than what has been said. '92TypeR' and 'penpen' were pretty spot-on.
I've tracked my ITR on longer courses but only tracked the Supra on a short course. The ITR would beat the Supra on a short course where there are few straights.
They are total opposite ends of the performance spectrum with the ITR being the lightweight moderately powered FWD with great turn in and the supra being the heavy high powered RWD with ok handling. The Supra has good steady state cornering but is slow in the slaloms.
Even though the Supra is relatively trouble free, it ain't no Honda. A lot of the maintenance and repair is more involved compared to a Honda and things under the hood don't hold up as well over time. Put it this way; I've had more problems with my Supra than my ITR.
I actually prefer to drive the ITR as a daily driver because it is much more cargo room and gets better gas mileage.
