Replacing rear wheel bearings by themselves?
I have noticed that autozone sells the rear wheel bearings by themselves and I was just wondering if it is possible to replace just the bearing. I ask this because when I was reading the older threads on this same subject it seemed like everyone just goes with the entire hub assembly since it comes with a new bearing.
I think most people do this because it is easier with the car still put together, however I am in the middle of a brake swap so everything is apart right now. If possible I would like to replace the wheel bearings and leave the hubs alone. I would much rather spend $45 for a bearing than $100 for the hub and bearing.
The front and rear bearings themselves are identical though right? Because they both have the same part number on autozone.com 510030 from Timkin (45.99).

no.. fronts are diff than rear..
and if u got a local napa store.. get them there.. full hub assambly is about 75 bux each... trust me its easier just to replace the whole hub vs taking the bearing out of the hub..

Just got back from Napa and they were charging 126/ea. Autozone is roughly the same price, but Kragen has them for 89 and I can get a 10% discount with that, so I guess I will go that route.
