This topic may have been bashed on, could find much on the search, this will be my 3rd honda after leaving the scene after my 2nd honda nearly 5 months ago. Want to start off right way. I plan on going with a jdm b16a swap into a crx of course, could I just take it to any referee stations and go through the procedure of getting it bar'd or must I be refered by a cop? I remember hearing that you have to be cited by a cop or get a ticket and be sent to a ref and not go their on your own leisure time. What are list of parts that do I need? other then a USDM ECU? TIA! hopefully gonna get back into the honda scene. Doing it this time with my girlfriend.

 

You can go before it's an issue and it's my feelings that the Referee's would prefer it. That way you are not going in with an "attitude".

All you have to do is to call the state and make an appointment. You can get the phone number at any smog check station.

What you will need in order to get it to pass is all the smog related parts from a 94 Del Sol. That's the US equivalant to the JDM B16.

In other words, you will have to convert the car to OBD1.

The whole process in dealing with the Ref is straight forward and believe it or not, easy.

They are not out to make your life hell!

I've got a bar'd B18c in my 89 hatchback and went into the ref early.
