Default Sponserships...

Whats your take on sponserships?

I had noticed a highly modded evo following me for like 15 miles i thought he was wanting to race but i was in no hurry to get owned, turns out he followed me to the store and started talking to me, he said he was a (carsponserships.com) "scout" and he wanted me to fill out an application on their website, anybody ever heard of these people or done any work with them or have any advice on the issue??

No, what they do is find you a sponsor and charge you $89. if you get sponsored by someone.

Think of it like a finders fee.

If you don't get sponored than they don't charge you.

Weird.................

that .com sponsorship thing is a scam google it up has been discussed on forums since like 99'

You get sponsorships by showing at meets and getting contacts in the industry

I have one with Xenondepot.com & Neuspeed & a few shops.

how is this a scam? these sponserships offer other **** than stickers.... right? Otherwise why would you take the sponsership. $90 finders fee for a decent sponser isn't squat.
or do they not find you anyone decent, etc. etc....?

Well are you talking about just getting parts or getting parts for cheap? I thought the whole point of getting sponsored is so they pay you to put their parts on your car? Or at least sell them to you at greatly reduced prices?

the real point of getting sponsored is to put your parts on your car and to "meet requirements"
meaning... minimum 10 shows a year, mag coverage etc whatever is stipulated in your deal..

the scam is everyone pays a group money... they get a sticker thats .10 to cut
and they get a group of shops that participate and "discounts"

i.e Ebay prices or little over cost... which if u go online already.. is out there all day everyday... for free.

I find parts for my friends all day... and if i cant find it , i'll find someone that can

Speaking of, I'm thinking about buying the HFP lip kit in a month or two when I can afford it (and after I'm dropped). What's a good price on that? If I remember correctly, someone said they were between $800-900 (or maybe that was TRE's prices when he had that hookup?), and the install is only about 15-30 minutes.

I just really like the lowered, lip kit look. I don't want a full body kit, and the other lip kits I've seen just have too much going on (Tourenn).

Carsponsorships.com is a terrible website. My friend had a bad experience with it. They charge you 80$ dollars to be able to look up sponsorships that pretty much suck ***.

The only reason he calls himself a so called "scout" is so he can get referrals to look up more sponsorships.

Some companies provide products for free, Fuzion tires for example offers you free tires, so long as you dont use anyone elses and appear at so many shows or events a year, along with displaying tons of large, gaudy Fuzion stickers all over your ride.

Most sponsers arent so genrous, they may give you a slight discount on parts, but again you have to plaster your ride with their stickers. To get tons of free junk from a company you need to be bigtime, like one of the top racers in AZ, or high end show car etc etc.

Lots of sponser cars at the track here are driven by toolbags, to busy sitting on their asses taking photo picks to actually race. It may be golden for some, but I prefer my newly waxed ride to be simple and clean, stickers just rice the hell out of a car.

my friend said he got sponsored by just showing up to track events (i believe he had been to ~5 events or so).

he has to put stickers on his car, but they are not big at all...basically one sticker on each side of his car that is the size of any sticker you and i would get for buying the product. no outrageously huge sticker.

he does have to go to shows but i only know of 2 that he has signed up for and actually been in...HIN and DUB AutoShows.
