I say try a junkyard or forums and try to find a f22 tranny. I got my accord tranny for $200 w/ 100k miles on it from a junkyard.

im not here to flame, but to put this in perspective. after all the money you spend on the longer geared tranny, you will probably only save no more than 3mpg, maybe a bit more. its gonna take a whole lot of driving for that longer geared tranny to pay off. not to mention how much slower its gonna be outta the whole.

Well said. H22 is an H22, it's still going to use gas. Stay out of VTEC and that's the biggest thing to help. If you're coming to a stop, pop it in neutral and just roll. If anything, I'd say get an H23 transmission so you have that medium or the cheapest thig would be just drive more conservatively with what you got. Keep your air filter fresh and tires inflated properly. Do some weight reduction too if you can afford it like pull the spare tire and tools.
