Where's the needle on the temp gauge?
Hey all you guys...
On a stock D15B2 (I got an 89 civic DX with an auto tranny, etc) where is the needle when the car is fully warmed up?
Mine is sitting at about 1/3 of the way up? I think my coolant temp sensor might be out cause my car is running rich even when it is warmed up (and yes I changed the O2 sensor) and maybe my car thinks it is always cold?
Any pointers?
Thanks for the help.

+1,
if I remember correctly ALL these cars had a "dummy gauge" meaning it just kinda sat around the happy middle even if temps changed a bit.
Are you sure the car is running rich if so how did you test?

I am pretty sure just because it smells really rich. It smells gas saturated and my friend thought the same thing. It gets about 30 MPG which seems pretty good. It throws the injector code.. too.
Our thoughts are that it is runny rich due to thinking it is still a bit cold. Which makes the cold start injector run more than it should, etc... (If that is even how Honda systems work?)

Ok so just smell? That can be that, or a few other things.
If your injectors are acting up it's possible, and more likely that is the cause then it being cold still.

It is usually dead at 1/3 of the gauge... You think the coolant temp sensor? I would really like to know before I buy one.
THanks.
