Saying goodbye to #231 for the last time...(Lots 'o Big Pics!)
Well, as some of you already know, my life as a weekend road racer has taken a significant turn (for the better) and one of the not-so-insignificant changes has been the recent sale of Type R # 98-0231. I know...it came as a surprise to me too, but the more I considered the thought of wheel-to-wheel racing, the more I became concerned with the future of #231. Simply put, I could not afford to have anything bad happen to the car while racing, and that's not a good attitude to have when you're trying to concentrate on improving your skills. So, with a little hesitation, #231 was sold to cover the cost of a new daily driver and a tow vehicle for the CRX that will be run in SCCA ITA and NASA PS2, as well as SOLO II CSP. I wish there was a way that I could have made #231 the track car as I had originally intended, but the funds just weren't there.
I think it's safe to say that if I had never purchased #231 in the first place, I wouldn't be where I am today in racing. It has truly changed my life, and while my #1 priority is still medical school, having this hobby has made everything else tolerable. I have a TON to learn about road racing, but what I already know has come from what #231 has allowed me to do, and the knowledge shared in the HT-Type R forum.
Here are some pictures, just 'cause I wanted to post them
First day, long, long ago:

What's my name?

At her peak of DS competition:

On her way to becoming a track car, just after I had lost my mind:

The last day:

In light of recent posts, I have a little message for thieves: FuG jOO! jOO NEVER GOT ME!! And NOW YOU CAN'T HURT ME!!! That's right, now I can say it. #231 was NEVER hit by thieves, never stolen, never stolen from, and never vandalized. I don't know how that happened, and I'm as shocked to say it as you guys are to hear it. I'm sure my luck would have run out eventually. I can't tell you the relief I have knowing that I don't have to look out for it anymore. I can park wherever, whenever, and I blend. I can drive down the street and nobody's trying to race me a stoplights. It's going to take some getting used to...
I plan to stick around on HT, but you’ll most likely find me over in the Comp forum. Thanks for all the help over the years, and for the study brakes (of course, I should be studying now
).

I totally agree with what you're saying #231. I think the ITR is a GREAT car to learn on and have a lot of fun with as well. I couldn't imagine racing mine wheel-to-wheel though (financially it just isn't possible for me). If I ever decided to get serious about racing, I would definately consider the same route you're going (Tow vehicle and CRX Si ITA racer). Good choice. I'm sure you'll love it!
Sorry to see her go, but it's for the best.
Good luck with the CRX, and I'm also glad to see that you finally learned that yellow is faster.
You know you're a road racer when you always spell it "brakes", regardless of whether you mean "brakes" or "breaks".

Sorry to see you go man...I remember you were always one of the OG ITR members.
See you around.
See you around.
Reid,
Guilty. It just goes to show you what I see more of... brakes vs. breaks

Thanks for the luck, guys.
BTW, I now have a video of #231's last autocross, including in-car and out-of-car with a 1st place DS and PAX finish. Can anyone host it for me? It's in .qt format (although you can change it to whatever) and it's about 18 MB total.

-231, who wishes medical school was the answer to all money problems, rather than the cause...
Good luck with the CRX, and I'm also glad to see that you finally learned that yellow is faster.
...sorry to say, but the CRX will be fast IN SPITE of it's yellow paint, NOT BECAUSE
CW OWNZ!Here is one more pic I took on the last day (can't believe I never thought to do this earlier):
