Default CA window tint fix it ticket

I gotta fix it ticket for front two windows yesterday while i was stuck in freeway traffic. Cop seemed bored and gave me a ticket ,didnt even ask for proof of insurance , seemed like he was just giving me one to meet quota its end of the month and also i seem to be the only modified car around him..Anyone know the legal limit on the front driver and passenger side window in CA. It should be 30% which is what I had , rather than mouth off the cop I figured id fight it in court which is a hassle, ive gotten a fix it ticket already for my last tints which were totally dark .. I lost my receipts!!...HELP ME OUT! wanna get this out of the way..

california limit is zero perfent tint unless it is dipped glass from the factory. I've had 3 tint tickets and all the officers said the same thing. I got one for 30%, and 2 tickets for even 10%. Cops usually use the tint as a reason to pull over ricers and then ask the driver for permission to look under the hood. That's where they hope to make the dollar tickets.

If I lived in Cali, I would find out the laws of the land, and build my car within that set of rules. I would keep all paper work, receipts, and print-outs of the associated laws to show the cops. Then if you get a ticket, fight it in court and tell the judge that you had all the proof of your legality and presented it at the time of the ticket. Down the road, if it happens enough, you can sue the system for harassment and be compensated.

First, there is no quota. That is absolute bullshit.

Second, if you want this taken care of become friends with a cop so he can hook you up.

THANK YOU
Indeed there is no quota.

Instead of complain about a cop doing his job, perhaps researching your state's laws might be of use. Of course, I would be upset as well IF I was wrongfully ticketed, but remember California has some of the strictest vehicle laws around.

10 % is darker than 30 % so you obviously don't know what you are talking about. Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In California, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. As far as a legal aspect of it I've heard both sides that no tint is allowed and also that anything over 70% is allowed. On the CHP website it says you can not tint the front windows at all.http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/answers.html
Hope this helps.

Yeah ur right, there is no offical quotas, they are illegal in all 50 states

BUT, there is a sort of unoffical quota in the department. I know some ppl in th NJ state police and they say even tho theres no offical quota, the cops are expected to give a set amount of tickets. If your in a squad car, your expected to give aproximitly the same amount of tickets as the other cops working that night, on that shift... They got charts of expected amount of revenue per shift per officer at each time of the day. Even tho there is no "quota", the officers still give out tickets for bullsh*t because it is a easy way to keep thier superiors happy...

Modified hondas are easy targets b/c almost any engine mod will cause a "loud exhaust" ticket, and any tint (in Jersey anyway) on the front side windows is a automatic ticket, with no real way to fight it...

I've gotten 2 "loud muffler" tickets in Jersey, and for the first one I had all stock integra except a Short ram, and the second I had a Rs-R exmag and a cold air... Wasn't loud at all, but what constitutes "loud" is at the "officer's descresion"

Anyway, point is that even tho there is no "offical quotas", the officers will still give out tickets just to say they gave out X amount of tickets each night/day. Unforunatly, modded hondas are easy ways to fill that "X amount of tickets".

As far as fighting a ticket because you had X% tint and the legal limit is X%, good luck to you without a recipt, and even then, it depends on how the Judge feels about it.... Could go either way.
In my opinion, since most court dates are in the middle of the day during the weekday, and most ppl work during the middle of the day during the weekdays, its usally cheaper to just pay the ticket rather then miss a day of work and go through the stress/hassel/cost of going to court. (assuming the ticket is one of thoes B/S tinted window or loud exhaust ones...

Just my 2 cents, and my opinions are just from what i see in jersey, could be different elsewhere
