so this is my situation.
I have a 96 integra with yada yada upgrades thinking i get get maybe 6000 for it. Iam considering getting a used s2000. I dont have much on my driving record besides a speeding. Iam thinking about putting around 3000 down, the rest spend on the car like some nice wheels suspension and exhuast and intake. I love s2000s and they may not be the fastest thing on the face of the earth but i think they are drop dead sexy. What do you guys think ?? Yay? or Nay?
*Can you also tell me how much your car was, down payment, montly payment?

1. How old are you?
2. Education?
3. Income?
4. Insurance quote/Payments.
5. Think of those four, give us answers, we respond, you get a conclusion.

so whats your point?...are you asking if you could afford one?...it all depends on how much money you make, if you have a good stable job, than i dont see the problem of affording one?

3000 isnt going to get you all that stuff for an s2000, you can probably get 3 of those things. s2k is a fun car, just dont buy it if you cant afford it, when i had mine it was about 900 a month between the payment and insurance.

I put almost 9 down on a used 03. Insurance is very expensive. Modding the car before you pay it off is a very bad financial decision imo. Unless you want ungodly payments, save up a nice wad of cash. Hell, save enough to pay for it in full - you won't regret it.
As far as affording one i think i can manage, since i do go to school as well my parents will help me out.Iam 20 going on 21, I understand they are expensive thats why i would like to buy some stuff b4 hand. So my question is(being in my situation) wuold you go for it?

Just me but if ur going on 21 and u cant afford a car without ur parents help then that ussually means u cant afford it and therefore should not buy it... just my 2 cents though
you can find s2k's for 15k and under if you look hard enough....get one of those and payments won't be through the roof (as they would be on a new s2k with only 3k down...)
but go ahead...its a fun car....im 20...insurance isnt bad...but then again, you may want a DD civic to insure as your main car like I do....

see, you are on a totally different level with your car. yours is SALVAGED and probably a lot cheaper than what he is getting. Dont get me wrong, i see nothign wrong with a salvaged vehicle if you KNOW you are going to keep it. How much are you spending to restore it? Who is paying for the restoration? you? i doubt it.
Im 18 going on 19 also, i can easily afford it, but my advice to ANYONE regardless of age is to get schooling and education first, then indulge. If i could go back, i would have never bought my s and would have done things much different.
did i just ruin my car sale?

Thats what I said along with everyone else. It doesnt happen that way unless this is your second car and you have something else to mod.

yea it was pretty cheap and i am paying for the restoration myself i did most of the work, besides the driverside quater and paint i would have done that too if i had a paint booth. but yea i understand i wasnt helping the guy out i just wanted to share how i got one of these amazing cars and i think he should get it. maybe im still young and have diff priorities.
yea its something i really need to think about. All i know is that i really want one but i dont want to rush into it. Ok scenerio: i found one for about 14900, with a 5k down payment, would that assure me of somewhat of a low payment? If so how much am i talking here?..
i financed $21.5 with a 8% and payment was 371 a month. But its not worth to put down that large amount, save that money for tires and othere things, i mean these cars are 7 years old and they will break down sometimes and then u got to spend money fixing it.

very true. I was thinking of putting down less and spending some of it on the car itself, but some peeps didnt think that was such a good idea. So am pretty much stuck in the middle right now. I really love my integra so we will see

i just turned 18 and i got mine a couple months ago when i was 17. it is worth the money. i work my *** off to pay for it, and im still in highschool. no regrets. i payed 17 for the car...put 7 down and a 10g 4 year loan. put me at 236 a month and 160 for insuarance. the only problem is all of my money goes into this car and i pretty much have to starve myself in order to pay for the car lol. make sure you can afford it though. luckily if something happens and i cant make a a payment here or there my dad will loan me the money. consider tires, gas, and oil though because the car likes to go through all of these. also the first week i had the car i was doing my first clutch job. i wont tackle that again.

you are doing exactly what i did. every day i kick myself wishing i kept my integra. i had 4 grand because of graduation, and wanted a new car. so i got my s.
i could put that money into the integ, and had MUCH faster car. and still have NO payments, which would give me more TIME to enjoy life and college. Now im stuck at work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to pay for the piece of metal outside my house. THINK about it.

he has a good point. if your not willing to work for it and dread working then its not for you. on the other hand, i love my job and i like to work. i also work with a few friends which makes it all the better. however, i do not work full time unless its summer. i still live with my parents so i dont have to pay rent or anything.

i like my job too. it pays decent for my age, and its pretty layed back and i like working, i have never been afraid of hard work, but the point of it all is that you should be getting an education, not working full time at this age.
people DO work and go to school, but it makes life that much less enjoyable.

i agree. truth is that i regret have money to spend on stuff and sit at home and play x box and ps2. i love the car enough to work for it but i get discouraged and stressed seomtimes. the main question you need to ask yourself is if you truely want this car. honestly there is many nice cars out there that are a lot less. for example, my friend has a volvo 850 R that would rape my s2k and was only like 6 g's. before i bought the s2k i was looking at e36 m3's. just make sure you look at all your options and choose the right fit. i most liekly chose the wrong fit but i love my car lol.
