what are symptoms of a bad temp sending unit
I just completed a b16 a swap into a 91 hatchback.. I bought the car for the swap and the heat gauge didn't work in it, but after I finished the swap it still didnt' work.. I've tested continuity on the signal wire from the sender to the gauge cluster, and the needle bounces when I turn on the ignition. I've also tried 3 different gauge clusters (fried one in the process. don't go poking around with a ground wire.) I also tried hooking the heat gauge directly to the signal wire and power/ground.. I'm at my wits end.. the heat gauge worked in the the last car I had this motor in..
So what are the symptoms of a bad temp sending unit? Anyone have any idea's of what I might be missing?
Also if it makes a difference, I haven't heard the fan kick on once in all the times I've ran the car so far
