Need oppinion on tire size
I searched b4 I posted this but didn't come up with a conclusive answer so i'm just looking for oppinions on this. I need to get 2 new front tires for my teg. I got some crappy all seasons on there right now but tread is worn. I'm looking at getting some Kumho ecsta spt's. Now the problem I have is I want to get 250/55/15's for the better traction but I can't find them on tirerack.com... I found em on discount tire but for like 50 bucks more. Now I can get 195/55/15's on tirerack and save 50 bucks or go for the 205's and pay extra money. What are ur guys' oppinions? Is it really worth the extra 50 bucks?
First of all, the right size for your car is 195-55-15 or 205-50-15. Also I would not recommend you putting 2 different sets of tires on your car. You will notice some handling issues! The Kumho SPT will grip very well wear as your shitty all season won't!
Ok well I got 205/55/15's in the back that are crappy all season that I intend to keep on... So ur saying if I get any other diff size than that in the front my handling will suck?
To poor to afford winter tires... Guess when winter comes I'll just put my all seasons back on... If it snows out I hope and pray to make it home without sliding around every corner into a ditch.

Yes and on top of that you are running a tire that is too big for you car so you are causing even more shitty handling!
Seriously try and get the same size tires all around and with the same thread pattern!

Why wouldn't 205's be better than 195's? They're wider, and for a front wheel drive car u really need wider tires cause the traction sucks.

Not true. In any case 10mm won`t make much of a difference either way. But in the winter or rain wider is much worse.

You really need to have the same tires on the front and the rear. Here's why. Let's say you have crappy all-seasons in front, and nice summer tires in the rear. Your car will then grip better in the rear in warmer weather, and it will understeer (will want to go straight ahead when you turn the wheel), but on a cold day, it will oversteer (the back end will want to come around on you when you turn). If you put the summer tires on the front and the crappy all-seasons on the rear, the reverse will happen.
Don't try to economize by only getting two tires or the wrong size tires. If you have an accident, you'll spend more on your deductible than the difference in the cost of the tires.
Get four tires for your car. And get them in the right size! 205/55-15 is too big for your car. Dave is right - get 195/55-15 or 205/50-15.
Since cost is a big factor for you, here's what I recommend. If you never expect to drive in snow, get the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in 205/50-15 for $57/tire at the Tire Rack. If you will occasionally use these tires in snow, get the Kumho Ecsta ASX (all-season tire) in 205/50-15 for $56/tire at the Tire Rack.
Also, when comparing prices between the Tire Rack and Discount Tire, keep in mind that the Tire Rack charges for shipping (typically $9-12 per tire) whereas Discount Tire offers free shipping.
