will a 89 tranny work with a 90-91 clutch and flywheel

No, you need to make sure if you match your 89 trans, with a same year cluth, and 90-91 with 90-91. i think the 91 has 21 splines while the 88-89's are 20.

as long as the motor displacement is the same it should work, the only year to have a different spline count was 88 i believe

i know that the clutch and the spline count is the same from 89-91 but what about the bearing is it a different size

You're fine using an 89 transmission with a 90+ clutch / PP / flywheel setup.
