Stripped out exhaust manifold o2 sensor hole!!!!! IDEAS?!?!
Ok so I finally got some money to change my o2 sensor. The one that was on it obviously did'nt have anti-seize and was dirty as hell. So me and a guy at auto zone had to use a breaker bar to get it out. Well that completely stripped out the old o2 sensor and partly stripped out the front part of the threading on the exhaust opening. Now I have already been through 1 new sensor because it stripped to hell. I have another one and I want to do this right.
Do you guys think I should use a tap and dy or use a rethreader? I tried cleaning out all the anti seize and screwing in the new o2 sensor but nothing gave. Its only the front part of the threading. THe back of it looks fine.
Also, when we took out the old sensor it was really black and looked pretty bad. Was it time for a new one? My car has been running rich, lack of power, bad gas mileage, and backfiring badly. (yes my timing was dead on)
