4th Gen CEL problem

i know how to check the CEL. but i was wondering if you can check the CEL when the car is running because my CEL only comes on after about ten minutes of driving and then will clear after you shut it off and then will come back after ten minutes. do any of you know what this could be if i cant check it while it is running? Thanks.

I dont think you can check it while the car is on. After it comes on while driving, stop and turn off the car. Check the codes then. Thats what I did, works.
