CTR oil pump question....
I am in the process of swapping a ctr motor in my 99 si. I have a 2000 ctr motor. The motor does NOT have a spot on the oil pump to bolt up a crank position sensor. I also do not have the ctr distributor. Is it possible for the car to run with the 99 si distributor and the 00 ctr oil pump and no CKP at the timing belt side of the motor? Or do I need either a CTR distributor or to swap my 99 si oil pump? I DO have the ctr ecu btw. Any help is MUCH appreciated because I need this done by the end of the weekend.
I have already begun to swap the oil pump... I am 99 percent sure its the only way. My next question is... is the type r oil pump the same as the SI? Are all vtec oil pumps the same? If not Ill buy an itr oil pump soon and swap it on but if its the same I wont bother...
That sensor on the oil pan is not the CKP (crank position) its the CKF (crank fluctuation sensor). You might not even need it with the CTR ecu if it didnt come with one. If you run the SI ecu you will need it. All B series oil pumps are interchangeable but the ITR/GSR is the best flowing of them all.
wow... that really sucks I just did all that work... and possibly for nothing. haha. Oh well. I would REALLY have rather had the really low mileage oil pump on there as well. I guess Ill just buy an itr from jhp soon and get over it. Thanks guys.
