92 eg wit single cam vtec
i have a signle cam vtec engine in my eg. i recently tried to start the car and then it just shut off. when i start it it revs up to bout 2200 rpm's and then the car idles down for bout 2 seconds and finally shut off. it does this every time i start the car. i am running it wit a p28 computer. any ideas why it does this and how to fix the problem?
thanks
thanks
Sounds like you got urself an IACV problem (oh god, another one?) That and maybe a bad map sensor as well. Tell us more, are you getting any Check engine lights? Has it done this stuff before?
Well, sounds like a vacuum leak at this point if you arent getting any CEL's. If its revving up and dying out, it could be so many things, i would get it to a mechanic first, its such a vague problem i cant decide whether its
- IACV\FITV not functioning normally, so it stalls out, or maybe your idle is too low. But the IACV not functioning would throw a CEL.
- The Map sensor, when broken, wont read correctly for the passing air, and it soemtiems swings both ways, meaning it doesnt affect the idle, but it causes the motor to run incredibly rich, fouling the plugs, shooting soot out ur exhaust, ect, OR it would cause the engine to stall out and not hold an idle. Ive seen both, its strange. Im guessing one has to do with it either half working, and the other having to do with not working at all.
-My other guess would be that your ignition isnt working correctly, either the cap\rotor assembly, or some type of misfire.
- Dead o2 sensor would cause an idle to not hold and die off, but again, you would get a CEL for that...
- A vaccuum leak, if bad enough, would cause an erratic idle, and also cause the engine to not hold a stable idle, causing it to die out when it gets low enough.
thats just off my head right now
What other modifications have been done to the car? List everything
