Another: Dealership Put In Wrong OIL
So today I went to Fairfax Honda to get my oil change. I thought it was time because the odometer was around 3,200 miles with the Oil Life at 30%. After waiting about an hour I get my car back and I go ahead and drive home. When I got home, I checked the sticker on the windshield and it said, CASTROL 5W-20. I pop the hood and check the oil cap... oil cap said 5W-30.
I call the dealership and asked to speak directly to the Service Manager (which wasn't in for the day), so they put me through to my Service Advisor. I told her that they filled my car with the wrong oil and she said that Civics are supposed to get 5W-20 instead of 5W-30. I tell her that she's wrong because of 1: the oil cap, and 2: the owner's manual. She then tells me "oh, the sticker just says 5W-20 but I'm sure the technician filled it with 5W-30". I tell her that the 5W-20 is HANDWRITTEN and is not pre-labeled. She goes on lying to me saying that 2006 SI's should are supposed to have 5W-20 and not 5W-30 blah blah blah. So I tell her that I'm not stupid and that I wanna go back there and get the recommended oil and a new filter.
I go back there and she is gone. Another Advisor dealt with me and I went with the technician so that I was sure they put in new oil and a new filter.
The dealership didn't say sorry nor offered anything like a free oil change (not that I would go back there for an oil change) or anything like that.
My family has purchased 5 cars from this dealership and the service people still treat us like ****.
to poor customer service at this dealership.

Hasn't this been covered by like.. two different people that either work or worked at Honda?
Pre-written or not, it's always labeled as "5W-20". They just use that to keep records of what they're doing or whatnot. Believe it or not, Honda techs are morons like everyone thinks they are. My wife careened our Honda Odyssey off of a road back in '02 and ripped apart the entire front of the car. 60k Miles later, it runs flawlessly. They know what they're doing.
The advisor you talked to obviously has no idea what she's talking about and just tried covering up her lack of knowledge.

the oil-change kid is not the same person who "reconstructed" your wife's odyssey. Dealerships have competent techs more often than not, but the oil change guy is usually just out of HS and thought Honda would be better than Mickey D's. Alot of times they do just use the bulk 10w20 in the drum because it's easier (and cheaper) and the majority of the population doesn't care. There isn't anything wrong with wanting the correct oil and proper documentation.
BTW the part of your statement in bold didn't match the rest of your post

Most people I believe use Model 1, 5w-30, including myself. But if you have ton's of disposable income, some use Royal Purple. Personally, $7.50 a quart is bit heavy for my blood. Their racing oil is renowned, but I really don't know if your gaining much from their regular synthetic.
