I think this may be goodbye
I have realized in the past few months that owning another Type R is not something I can really afford. The insurance is too much and most importantly the car would stand a good chance of getting stolen in NY like my old one. Anyways I am thinking about purchasing a 00' Celica GT-S what do you all think of it. I know that it is almost as quick as the R and handles almost as good, but what do you all think?
Why not get a hatchback with an R motor...? Cheaper than a new Celica, and for the same price you can mod the crap out of it, and make it out-handle and out-perform one.
Thats going to be a tough thing to do (drive a GTS) is way different and not all for the better. Get some thing that can't be compared to a ITR, maybe a rwd or awd car.
Awd would be the best thing for you if you live in the NY area, like the 2.5 T suby.. or something along that line of cars...
Goood luck on your next car and don't forget to drop by and say hello!

I wanted to get the WRX but I don't got the cash, I don't really like the other Subaru's, I am really limited in the cars I look at due to my insurance, I almost bought a M3 but that was over 5g's to insure and I don't got that kind of $$$. The Celica seemed like it handled well, and I am only planning on keeping the car for a year or two until my insurance comes down. Hopefully I will pick myself up a S2000 before I graduate from college if I can save enough. Well I will let you all know how it goes tomorow with the Celica, man I am going to miss the Type R. And again DAMN THOSE THIEVES FOR PUTTING ME IN THIS SITUATION

The 2000 Celica GTS is...uh...pretty...that's all I can say about it. Given it has 6 speeds, why in the world did they make it so that 1-2 redline shifts leaves you out of the high cam power range
By the looks of it, it should handle very well...wheels are placed at the ends of the car with very little over hang, small wheel base, big brakes, light weight...
Since you only plan on keeping the car for a couple of years. If I were you, I'd just get a beater...CRX would be my choice.

Celica? I think there are tons of better options out there now...S14, WRX/, DSM, etc.
I heard from my friend, he has celica GT-S 00, and he wasn't satisfy with its performance...and I was looking at the bestmotoring video, ITR owns celicas..
I just about checked out insurance prices for anything comparitable to a Type R, and they are all too much since I am a step 26. I know that the Type R and Celica are totally different cars but I think I am just going to have to make the best of it. Pretty much I was either gonna get the Celica or a Audi A4 1.8T. Man I wish I could understand what everyone says, "Its just a car."
what about a VW golf GTI , GS-R , GSX or GS-T eclipse, CL type S , rsx type s , or maybe a miata ... ? i dont know . good luck
I would go with 1. VW 1.8T (it rocks), 2. RSX-S (never test drive it though)

Might I be able to second or even third the suggestion of a hatchback with an R swap and other goodies?
Will this help?

Or maybe THIS will help you decide?

That's my timeslip from this past weekend at a sorry-*** strip here north of Atlanta. 1100ft. above sea level, and a 13.374@99mph on baby M/T 20'' slicks.
This was with a basically STOCK ITR motor and Type R tranny fortified with an ATS 4.929 FD.
The car weighs 2040lbs. with the swap, four wheel disc brake upgrade with slotted rotors, stainless lines, and good old ATE super Blue fluids.
The car also has Koni full coil-overs, GS-R rear swaybar, and custom springs on the way later so yes it can and will out perform ITRs at the SCCA Solo II comps coming in the next months.
I love the ITR, and I'm not saying my car is the best car, but for less than $10,000.00 you can have a better pefroming car in all areas (braking will be close if you don't have ABS
) and the insurance is dirt CHEAP!!!
Let me know what you think...
EDIT: Don't give me ANY **** about my motor swap being stolen either, because I have the title to the totalled R that the owner sold me after he bought it back from State Farm.

With all the stuff you've done, you'll be running in a Mod class against some *seriously* fast cars. ITRs will be the last thing on your mind in that class
