I searched and came up with different opinions, I have a bolt in autopower 4 pt. race for my CRX "main hoop +diagonal bar +plus curved bar in between...Im wondering what is the best way to mount the harness "just drivers side", any write ups? I know its out there if someone has anything link me, or just inform me please... 4 pt. or 5 pt. harness, haven't decided yet; either or lmk. Thank you
A 4 point is not a good harness to have. If you get into an accident you will slide down in the seat as you slide down the 4 point with basically catch your ribs to stop you, so you will start cracking ribs or puncturing things, not good. I would get a 5 point and this problem is solved and a lot safer.
What is the car being used for? You will attach the harness on the bar right behind the driver/passenger. If you are using this for HPDE you need to have equal safety equipment for you and your instructor.

just my DD, but the reason why I ask is I am planning to maybe auto-x but i am not sure...probably will get a five point because I have heard nothing about good about 4 pt. The reason why I asked is because some people said it was bad to use the one right behind the seat, some people said use the main hoop, but thats like wtf...where are the mounting locations for all 5 pt? Thanks and congrats on the promotion
also want to be safe because the my first gen was stolen and found flipped over...not a pretty sight

You wanted it mounted directly behind the seat slightly above where your shoulders will be.
However I would suggest that if this is a DD keep the stock belts in the car. It is very annoying to wear a harness in a DD. If you are not Auto-x or on track leave the harness out until you do it.
5 points mount 2 shoulder straps on the bar, one on each side of the seat and the submarine belt come up between your legs.

No offense CRX Toad, but that info is way wrong! I'm pretty sure that The instructions for almost all belts say to install 15 to 20 degrees BELOW the shoulder line (to keep you in the seat)........read the "how to" on the simpson or any other site and follow them exactly as stated, no matter which 5pt belt you choose.....BTW I'm also pretty sure that most racing belts are not DOT approved.........good luck.....and more good luck........

Duh...yes you are correct. I was thinking where they come through the seat is slightly above the shoulders. Simpson actually suggest 10 degrees below thanks for being that to my attention.

Actually Schroth makes a fully street legal DOT compliant 4 point belt. It is made specifically with anti-submarine technology and has a simplified release.
The simplified part of the release is that is does not have a flashy cam lock or such. It has a simple locking mechanism with a large red button clearly marked release. This is one factor that makes it street legal, if a paramendic comes across you at the scene of an accident, they dont have to try an figure out how to get you out (in addition to cutting you out).
Check out the scroth website, they have more info on it and a few of their belts are offered in the DOT or race cam lock.
They would be THE ONLY choice for street, they are the only one filed as DOT legal if i recall.
