Its a huge investment. Unless your motor is already built you will need to build it for the cams.

You will need some pistons and a good engine managent system along with some dyno time. And why did you put such stiff *** springs on valves that are lighter than stock?

when you upgrade cams in the future you'll already have the valvetrain to support it.

so other than being useless according to you, what's wrong with having a better valvetrain with stock cams?

damn i was hoping for real information... Not to listen to two people go back and forth about why i put valvetrain in when i did.... Maybe i bought the valvetrain because i knew some cams were in the near future... But according to you i think its "tight to roll stock cams on 400 dollar valvetrain". Maybe some actual good camshaft adivce would be a start.... aside from one person (1.8L_allmotormilitia) he was cool....

To comment on the orginal post.....Ive never heard of top fuel cams. But if your willing to spend 400-500 on cams dont get a brand that no one has heard of. For that kind of money you can get a pair of skunk2 stage 2 cams. And skunk2's are twice are better as top fuel.

And as far as upgrading your valvetrain. If he had the intension of getting cams down the road then theres nothing wrong with upgrading the head then buying cams. Usually when people upgrade any part of there motor they already have a plan/or idea as to whats going to get done in the future.you can't do it all at once. But if you just upgraded it just to upgrade it and didnt plan on putting cams in,then yea it was pointless. because even with an upgraded valve train, that doesnt mean that you'll beable to rev higher/make more power. Because no matter what the cams are the same.

to the op, i have never heard of 'top fuel' cams, but it sounds like it could be a knock off brand or something i did a quick search and most threads were a few years old, and saying they were discontinued. i'd like to see the specs of them. i'm not the one to always go with brand names but companies that are known are also proven. it seems your head is done, do you have any block mods? you'll need atleast the 11:1+ cr range in order to take full advantage of a wilder cam (bc4,s2s2 etc). it seems like you need to search and read more before you do anything more. goodluck, jdm itr pistons + 98+ itr/ctr cams would give you significant gains, and leaving you in the 11.6 range with stock h.g. don't forget tuning. search search search. good luck
