Default Soooo, electric paint gun?

Late night infomercials are a bad influence. What kind of results would this produce if i used decent paint (not rustoleum)?

I read on it a little and found out there's a difference in electric guns. The infomercial was using an HVLP unlike typical airless electric guns. Sprayed like a car gun, seems interesting.

I likely won't ever do this on a car because i have a friend with the proper tools, but it's intriguing.

yea sure if you paint it non metallic like the white utility trucks
and then put on about 5 heavy coats and wet sand it smooth

but not metallic

Real paint guns measure the air and paint flow pretty precisely
they have matched needles and caps so the painter can always
expect the same flow over and over and it will be correctly
atomized to the proper droplet size
and the pattern of the paint leaving the gun will be adjustable
to allow proper overlaps of paint
that way you don't get zebra stripes in your metallics

if you go into a shop you will see 2 different levels of guns
one that is used for primer
and one that is used for color coats and clear

If the painter sees you trying to shoot primer through his good gun
you will be lucky if he just smacks you around a bit

real guns can cost from 150 to 250
the ones you buy at harborfreight for $39 are good for painting refrigerators
or maybe primer

electric spray guns are garbage
they are good for what they are used for but thats why you buy them
to paint the dog house or shed

so yea maybe the paint would come out of the gun
if it was thinned to match that gun but its going to look like
your driving your shed down the road.

I think if i spent the money for metallic paint, i'd buy a real gun.

Just an idea as an alternative to roller painting.
