Brake and Gear Problem

Car Won't go out of park and brake lights won't work
My friend has a 1998 Honda Accord Automatic that won't go into gear and the brake lights won't go on but after messing with the pedal by pressing it and it goes on for like a second and then goes off. Any suggestions?
