Default Opening JDM Type R headlights

the yellow cap for my fog light broke off inside my head light... I know I have to open the headlight.. which way do u suggest?

->put the headlight in the oven to break the seal?

->use a hot air gun to pry it open?

do i have any other options?

I personally like the hammer and screwdriver method.

I think the best way is to use a heat gun. I would be a little scared to put some OEM lights in the oven.

I like using the oven, it heats everything up evenly. The problem is finding an oven big enough for the headlights. Ive done USDM headlights in the oven and it was a breeze, and I did the JDM ones with a heat gun and all I can say is that I have a new pair of headlights. No matter which way you do it, its going to be messy. And I would do it myself if you dont trust your friend. I wouldn't think itd be right to ask him to pay for the headlights if he is HELPING you.

Here is some step by step on what i just did to get my headlight opened.
Yes i was very scared on screwing up my headlight, but took a chance and work alot easier than using a heat gun. I suggest check to make sure your headlight fits inside your oven. If the headlight touches some side of the oven cover those area with some foil. Be very careful it's HOT and can damage your headlight if u don't pay attention .

1) Remove everything off the headlight. such as covers, light bulb, metal clip, screws, etc......
2) preheat oven to 225f Suggest u get a oven temp gauge to make sure.
3) place head on a cookie sheet. place headlight and plate in to oven.
4) Wait about 10-14 min.
5) wear glove cause it's hot and going to get messy.
6) get a butter knife to help on the first opening. if u take to long replace headlight and plate back into oven. for about 5min. and continue with opening.
