Is the K20A and the K20A-R the same motor?

Yes.

K20A = DC5 Type R
K20A2 = USDM Type S

No such motor as the "K20A-R". But, the K20A is the Japanese Integra Type-R engine.

people refer to it as k20a-r to less confuse others instead of going "k20a what? k20a2 or k20a3?"
