Default Need input from the prelude experts - Looking to buy a 5th gen

I'm looking to purchase a 5th gen lude and I need the experts to chime in on what to look for.

Of course, I'm hoping to find that diamond, but we all know how that works out.

What to check beyond the obvious? (CV's, Grinding tranny, sluggish power, doors not closing properly, etc...)

Since you guys know what works and what doesn't, fill me in so I'm an informed buyer.

I'll be limiting my search to 97-01 SH 5sp, however if a base comes up for a good price, I might ****** at it.

TIA!

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU TURN ON THE IGNITION KEY YOU SHOULD SEE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS TURNS ON AS WELL AS THE SRS AND THEY SHOULD TURN OFF AFTER FEW SECONDS.

I GOT F*CK UP WHEN I BOUGHT MINE TOO EXCITED AND REALIZED AT END THAT THEY TOOK THE BULBS FOR CEL AND SRS.

MAKE SURE NOT SMOKING WHILE DRIVING IT.

BUY MINE TOO.. LOL

Yea, I owned a honda before and I'm pretty aware about the 'ol remove the check engine light bulb trick...

Actually, I have an OBD2 scanner that I'm going to borrow when I check the car out.

zirac50 - Buy your car? Why, so you can dump your problems on me? no way

MadCatz - Your SH is a little to far for me, that is unless your car is not in Michigan and magically is located in San Diego

If you are looking to make the prelude high power, DO NOT get the sh one. But if it will be just a daily driver sh will be just fine. (ATTS disk's start to slip at 230-250whp) So keep that in mind. And one more thing, look in the trunk under the mat (where the spare is) and make sure there is no foldes.

Mafia - Thanks!! Folds (wrinkles) as in prior accident? I assume that's what you mean.

I need a daily driver that I can enjoy. I plan on keeping the engine completely stock as I need it to be reliable. I make trips to Phoenix about once a month, and I drive to Temecula from San Diego every weekend, so mileage was/is a concern.

Does the lude require 91octane? I thought I read somewhere the CR was around 10.x:1
