Unplug the green plug at the VTEC solenoid.

unplug the vtec wiring from the ECU. bad idea though, and if you don't want VTEC you have some problems

Just don't rev up past 5700 RPM. If the purpose of turning off VTEC is to drive like a ***** I would think you wouldn't rev up that high anyway.

Another method (a very stupid one) is unplugging your speedometer.

First off, why do you want to remove VTEC? If you're looking for that "VTEC Power Hump" throughout the power band that is possible. All you need to do is replace the cams with a custom setup of larger lobes on the high and low side. I believe TODA has something like this, but I don't know if it was just for their R or if it's for sale.

VAFC would turn it off, or you could just unplug the VTEC solenoid (as stated above).

Why does unplugging the speedometer stop VTEC engaging? I could possibly understand why unplugging the speed sensor would (although this would still be unusual would it not ... thought VTEC operates on RPM not speed?!?!)

I am not sure if the original poster meant speed sensor not speedometer.

VTEC needs to see a certain speed, try reving your car in neutral and see if VTEC kicks in.

I thought it just needed a load on the engine...You can be going any speed and if the car is in neutral VTEC will still not engage.

yea, i've heard you can even replace your "VTECH" solenoid with a bigger one and use synthetic VTECH fluid which they claim is good for up to 18 whp. anyone try this yet?
