Default OT: My motor was just clayed?!?!?!?!?!?

well, they determined I can only go a max of +-5 on each cam WTF????
I have Toda C's
and Endyn 81.5mm 12:1 CR pistons...doesn't that seem a bit low?

It does seem low. Was the head milled? Block decked?
What is the Valve-To-Piston measurement that used as max?

Head was not milled nor was the Block decked.....
I don't anything about the measurements, I wasn't there when they did it...I am in South Florida and they are in Naples so I don't feel like driving all that way to make sure things go smoothly, Topspeed is a very well known and reputable shop, so I trust their judgement

+-5 WHAT, degrees? marks on the gear? what cam gears?

its obvious you dont trust them if you are asking us what we think of their verdict.

Keep in mind you also said in another post this was some head that Omar shafted you with correct ? How can you know the head has not been milled ?

I have skunk2 cam gears...and they said degrees not markings, I trust that +-5 is correct, and I doubt I'll even go to +-5 on either cam, but it's just I hear of people having a bit more clearance than that usually...

No offense, but i think +-5 (degrees?) is more than enough. Most people have their's set much less than that. Before you freak out, maybe you should dyno the motor and determine how much adv/retard u need, then go from there.

On another note -- how much adv/ret. did you think you were gona get with 12:1 pistons??? do you relize how big the domes are on those? Some how you are gona have to compromise. Big pistons with moderate cam adjustment and good to excellent mixture (flame front) propagation or big pistons, large cam adjust and big valve relief, poor mixture propagation. I.E. - you're making a bigger deal out of it that it is.

What does the dome have to do with anything except for compression?

no oversized valves either..., I'm sure Mike K will make his way to this thread, he said he was there when they clayed the motor,AND he's the one who will be tuning it for me

Dont feel bad, I just clayed mine and got 29-30 thou piston to head. Talk about cutting it close. I had 150 thou on the intake valves and 140 on the exhaust. So I will only have about +/- 5 also. My head and block were cut so I am using a 40 thou gasket to help compensate. I am only running b's though.

Sgt when you say you were at +/- 10 deg , you mean crank degrees not cam correct?

Whats the cc on your endyn pistons Pinhead ?

The valves can hit the pistons!

Wouldn't it be better to run TODA cam gears, since your running their cams?

I'm pretty sure choice of cam gears does not matter, as long as they don't slip

The valves can hit the pistons!
Isnt that the reason there are valve reliefs

yeah, but you cant make the reliefs too deep and you can still have valve/piston contact

With the pistons that Pinhead is running, the valve reliefs are the same as stock(he can go deeper with the valve reliefs if he really wanted to.) Dome height has nothing to do with anything but compression. (he could be running a 14.1 dome and it still wont effect piston to valve because the valve reliefs remain the same as his 12.1 and stock pistons)

Its the same as everyone asking what is the piston-to-valve of a CTR piston to that of an ITR piston?

Think the second gen todas can only slip 5 degrees...

Nope, More like 15 cam degrees total travel.

the very old ones (Zspeed) I believe were only 5degrees total travel, I think the new ones are 10 or slightly more.

Nope, they have like 20 degrees of adjustment per direction

Regarding wiseco/endyn releif depth. they arent as deep as stock
