Need help installing ES shifter bushings!
Or press it in with a vice. You can use a bit of silicon lubricant to squeeze it in there.

It didn't come with any lube, I think it's prelubed...Taking off the whole shift linkage seems extra. I can't think of anyway of getting it in there...what a pain in the 455. The cheapest mod becomes the hardest one.

I just installed mine this past weekend and the rear was much harder for me. in any event, I would suggest silicone (or something else very slippery) or heating the bushing with a hair dryer and then trying to squeeze it in.
they both take a lot of elbow grease to get them in there. You must lube them up really well and just have a good angle of pushing it on there. Takes time but once you get the first set in you can do someone else's car in about 10 mins

I just installed it two weeks ago. Some one on the board said it take 20mins yea right!!! And i had the same problem. The fit was so tight. I suggest maybe two people and a screwdriver.
.....at first it seems impossible, but you CAN do it with just your bare hands and a wide flathead screwdriver.
Positioning is the key.
Just make sure you are on the side you're pushing from, not trying to pull it towards you..... This is the paseenger side. Use the palm of your left hand (if you're right handed) to hold at least part of the bushing in the hole. Use the screwdriver to push a little bit at a time in the whole - going around the circumference of the bushing..... Keep steady pressure with your hand so the ground you've gained doesn't pop back out. If you lack the hand strength, get a buddy to help you. 4 thumbs should be sufficient to pop that sucker in. The rear one seems impossible too, but it's just elbow grease. I didn't use any lube for any of them.....

I've done them pretty easily too. Gotta pull the shift rod out all the way. Then lube the bushing, lube the hole, and just start working it in there... Put the rod on the ground, and push down with the palm of your hand...
Out of context, sure sounds like a porno...

Water based, cause petroleum based can weaken the Latex...
I wonder if Astrolube would work on urethane bushings.
Honestly, I've always used the stuff that comes with the bushing. It's very vaseline like. I don't know if it's water or petroleum based. I don't know what vaselene would do to urethane. Hmmm... I'm not sure!

.....you don't need no ****** lube. Just push - it's kinda tight the first time.
wish me and b2 luck this weekend...i think we should set it next to the hole, and use a vice or a clamp and squeeze it in
if that wont work, i've got some special lube
