Default What kind of other swaps are there besides a K swap?

I've determined that I want to swap out my D17A1 due to its limited bolt on options. What other types of swaps can be made on a 01 Civic besides the K swap? If there are other swaps, are they cheaper and will they provide me more modifying options than the D17A1?

Sorry if this was already covered, I don't really know much about this kind of stuff and I'm trying to learn.

k swaps are the only swaps.

but there is a wide range of prices of K engines.

k20a3's can be found for 1500-2000
k24a1/3/4 = 2500-3000
k24a2 3000-4000
k20a2 3000-4000
k20a 5500+

those are just very general prices..

U will need to add quite a bit to each tho for kpro, mounts, and other misc items.

U could always go turbo for 2500-3500.

Ok thanks. Out of those that you listed what is the difference between them and what is the best to swap besides the k20a (much too expensive for me).

that would be the k20a2 then.

don't bother doing the k20a3...

if pricing is really an issue just do a turbo on the d17

There is the hamster in a wheel swap, but the power gain isn't that great and they don't work too well in winter climates.

Type R isn't really worth it IMO aside from "bling factor." You can get similar power out of a Type S for cheaper than a stock Type R

K20a has better cams, better IMO, and higher compression.

Search the FAQ for the engines and it details the engine a lot better.

If u want an all out N/A engine. k20a FTW.

boost or low modded power. k24a2/k20a2 FTW.

k20a3 is a nice swap, its responds to bolt ons realy good, and is great to turbo, also you can head swap/camchaft swap from a a2 and it gain way power, also its a great way to just get that d17 outta there

I agree, but swapipng heads/camshaft isnt very cheap either and with the amount u can get an a2. I would only get a k20a3 if i were to boost other than that, working with that motor NA isnt worth it
