Does any one know what the tightest Ubends you can purchase ? 2.5 U bends? I need like an inch between the legs??

Thats just not gonna happen as stated.. The best you are gonna find and then most don't even offer them is a 1:1 ratio of diameter to radius of the bend.

I'm not even sure if a U is available at a 1:1 either.. I usually buy 1:1 90s from http://www.atpturbo.com and cut them down super short to make a 1:1 radius U when I need it.

I just lined up two 1:1 3" 90s I have and you get about a 2" cap between the walls of the pipe. I only have one 2.5" with me where I am so I could not test with a 90.

ATPs machine is pretty decent as far as marring up the pipes too on the tight bends, usually need a little buffing out if you are trying to make it flashy.. but on the VWs you can't see them anyway so never a worry with me

that will get him the same result as two 1:1 90s for double the price and still have to weld the seem up.
