s2k..is it worth it?
well im new here and ive been stuck on this question for lil while now....im wondering if i should or shouldnt get an s2k...do u guys think its really worth the money? my dad wants me to pay for half my insurance, my 6 month he said if i get it..is gonna be 2000 bucks -_- i got like 3 speeding tickets...and i only make like 700 to 800 a month and im putting 3500 down on a 19995 03 s2k....since i only make a certain amount, and have to pay for insurance...do u think the car is worth it considering id be spending about 500-600 dollars alone on my car?....
Wait until you are out of school or have a higher paying job.
I'm getting a loan for 10k, I make 1k a month, on a slow month. My payment is like 350/month I'm not sure what insurance will be, but I'll be able to afford it easily.
Get a higher paying job, or buy a cheap beater and SAVE SAVE SAVE.
I'm assuming you are an American, so the saving part might be hard.

i would suggest saving for a little while. this way you'll appreciate it a little more and maybe you'll have slowed down a little bit by then and some of your tickets wont matter to your insurance company anymore.
that and you dont get paid enough... why live paycheck to paycheck when you're so young just to have a car you want?
so to sum it up... its not worth it for you

dont do what i did dude, i really wish i hadn't bought the car. But now that im stuck with it, i make the best of it.
my car payment is 305 a month and insurance is taken care of by pops(he lives in mammoth, and its dirt cheap to insure. he wanted to help me out a lil)
i make 1300 a month and its pretty easy to get by, but if i could do it over again, i would have kept my 4k saved and kept the teg. 4k savings + no car payment + integra = one fast integra, with plenty of cash to spare.
so basically. go to school, get a degree, get a real job, then indulge. it will be easier.

I say save your money buy something else. i bought my 03 s2k at 44,xxx with down payment of 5k and i pay 370 a month for 60 months. insurance is going to be way too costly. i don't think u'd have enuff even if u worked 2 jobs.

is it your first car? never get a nice first car, the first should always be a beater. cause odds are you WILL if not wreck it, then at least ding it up in the parking lot..
you gotta think about gas too because the S needs premium and if you drive it all the time (which im sure you would want to because it's an S) you wouldn't have money for gas, definitely wait
DO NOT BUY THAT CAR! DO NOT BUY THAT CAR! my recomendation would be to get a used 02-04 civic si. SI's are badass, good gas, not too bad on insurance, and got VTAC!!!
You say 500-600 a month on your car but you have to remember maintenance of the s2k and all the other fees that life brings up.
but seriously after graduating highschool I got about 1500 from family then worked about 3 months and had 4 grand. I was all stoked I had the most money I have ever had, instead of doing the smart thing which was to save it for college I went out and bought a RSX-S. Its a tight *** car but I have no money for mods, it just stays stock and the premium gas is killing me. Lets not even talk about insurance. And living from paycheck to paycheck aint a good way to go. If your getting the car to impress the ladys , **** well if you got a sick ride but cant afford to take her out to dinner or go out to sports games, clubs, etc. then **** she aint gona be impressed. PLEASE listen to me and get the used 02-04 si.
My other 2 cents would be to get a EK civic (96-00) get a EX the SOHC vtec. You will save a **** load on gas, insurance, and no payment! With this saved money invest it into an IRA. And when your 60 you could easily have quarter to half a million. And with that expletive the s2k buy the latest model Acura NSX then buy a house.

if you want a s2k right now. dro pa big downpayment, by the end of the year im going to drop like 10K downpayment and get me a 16-18K s2k, so ill finance a smaller amount. pay less a month. better for me, more money for gas and insurance.
depends on what your priorities are, i bought a s2000 at the age of ninteen(still nineteen right now). insurance will be a hassle but for a car enthusiast like me, id rather be driving my s2k than my civic or truck.
s2k is a step up to your regular cars, also because the parts for it is so
. its a good thing to have and its always a pleasure driving it around in the warm weather.
Also with the s2k you have to use 91/93 octane(you might want to put that in you calculations).
good luck in deciding.
look into s2ki.com and theres a forum there about deciding to buy a s2000 or not.
