Default IDLE / CEL / VACUUM? problems (5th gen)

hey, I'm new to the forums, and I've looked around for a similar situation, but i didn't find anything about it. Something was always a little different with my problem , but I could never figure it out. 50% of the time my car is turned on, it idles out...50% of the time it turns on, the idle is so doggon low it shakes like crazy (obviously it would). I've checked the MAF sensor, but even so, the problem doesn't seem related to that. I'm thinking there's a leak in the vacuum tubing somewhere, but I don't know where to start looking in terms of that.

I can keep the car on if i keep a little throttle open on it when i turn it on, and after a minute, the car will stay on, but still has that scary 200-500 idle...I've even thrown a CEL once, but it went away after one reset, and didn't come back, so i didn't check the code...it would be awesome if I could find the problem source, if anyone could help that would be nice...

btw, my car is:

5th gen 2door EX
H22 Engine w/ obd1 & skunk2 chip mapn
all the bolt ons (intake exhaust headers)
f22 tranny
apexi vafc

If you do a SEARCH on IDLE, you will find the subject discussed often.

check all the hoses on the manifold. that one of the main idle controls. spray water with soap in it and just watch. Or if there is not enough water in the radiator it would reach your throttle body which will also cause irradic idling.

You could just replace all the vaccuum lines, cost you $10 max and a good maintenance step.
